Our Environmental Sustainability

At 216 we are committed to protecting the environment.  We aim to reduce our environmental footprint by using sound environmental practices.

  • Spray free vegetables, herbs and fruit are grown on the property
  • Where possible, food is sourced from local growers and bread made onsite
  • Suites have green roofs, passive heating and recycled glass insulation
  • 216 uses an on-site sewerage system which turns sewerage into clean water to irrigate native planting and non-edible garden
  • Much of our landscaping is constructed from recycled railway sleepers and extensive native planting is ongoing
  • Our water supply is collected rain water and our drinking water is Ultra Violet filtered
  • LED lighting is used extensively throughout the property
  • 216 composts organic waste, has working worms, Bokashi bins, and recycles glass, packaging, plastics and newspaper
  • Cleaning products used are eco-friendly as much as possible
  • All toiletries provided are made in New Zealand from natural ingredients and pure New Zealand essential oils, and are refilled as appropriate to avoid throwaways
  • Beehives onsite delivering our own honey harvest used to make our toasted muesli
